Paint Night

A few months ago a friend and I attended “Paint Nite” at a local gym and I LOVED it.. ever since then I have been wanting to go to another one, unfortunately I haven’t made it to another. When we moved Beth into Madison’s room I was trying to think of ways to make the room theirs.. not just Madison’s, and I was reminded of the paint night.

I wanted to add some fun colors and some personalization to the room and figured what better way to do that then have the girls make something, so we headed over to Michaels and grabbed a few supplies and got back to work!

I decided to let the girls pick out the colors and shockingly they agreed on all 4 colors. We grabbed all our supplies and headed home. I pulled out my circuit and cut of the girls initials in vinyl and attached them to canvas along with a heart.

The vinyl was not sticking to the canvas as well as I had hoped so we had to add some paint to help it stick.. Madison picked yellow because “it was bright and looked sticky”! Luckily it helped 🙂

I put some paint out and gave the girls brushes and let them get to work! They loved the entire process. My only regret was using paint brushes, they seemed to slow them down and were more of hassle. If I ever this again I will let them finger paint the entire canvas. I had to help a little bit to cover up the white spots but they pretty much did it all alone!

IMG_4755Once they finished I could’t wait to pull the vinyl off, I was looking forward to seeing the finished products! Once I finally pulled it off I was soooooo happy! They turned out so great and bright, it is exactly what I had in mind. The girls are so proud of themselves for making some beautiful pieces of art for their room! While I am still thinking about how to hang the pieces (either hang or display using the ikea photo shelf) I thought I would share the finished product with you!

This pregnancy is totally different from the last 2. With both the girls I was very anxious and wanted to get everything done as soon as possible, I wanted to make sure we had the carseat (not in the car but ready to go if needed), I was calling pediatrician at 20 weeks to pick one, I was worried about having diapers and onesies etc.. This time it is the opposite. I am totally chill and not concerned about any of that. Probably because it is the 3rd time around and I know I have time and I don’t NEED everything the second the baby is born. The only thing we have done so far to prep for baby Murray is move Beth out of the nursery and put the crib rail back on the bed.
Is there anything you would recommend getting this time around? So much has changed in the baby game in the past 2.5 years .. what are your go-to baby items?

20 weeks down .. 20 to go!

Long Weekend Craziness

This past weekend was probably the busiest weekend we have had in a long time. My parents decided to take advantage of Canada Day and having their own long weekend so they came down and were camping about 45min from our house! They came down to spend Friday with Chris, Beth and I while Madison was at camp, and then they took Madison back to the campground on Friday night! Madison had a blast, she loves spending time with Opa and Grandma. Saturday morning the rest of us got up nice and early and headed to the campground to spend the day! The girls got to swim, Madison was in the bike parade, they made tie-dye shirts, we roasted marshmallows, rode the fire truck and enjoyed yummy ice cream!

Sunday we celebrated 4th of July at a friends house, the girls spent the majority of the day in the pool. I think the highlight of their day was the ice cream truck! As for the 4th of July, we spent the afternoon swimming and playing at another friends house. We ended the weekend by waking the girls up at 930 to watch all the different fireworks we could see from our back yard!

All in all a successful weekend 🙂
Hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend if you were celebrating Canada Day or 4th of July!

Looking forward to: Working on the girls room so Beth can move out of the nursery and into her big girl room with Madison.
On Friday at our ultrasound we were able to find out the gender of baby Murray! This experience is totally new to us as we didn’t find out with either of the girls. We decided to find out the gender at the office and then give the girls icing filled cupcakes. Madison had been saying boy the entire time so we were shocked to find out she was right!
13621889_10208273613231689_171343973_oBeth was very confused and actually looked like she was going to cry, she didn’t understand blue means a brother she just wanted pink icing! Madison on the other hand was genuinely happy and so excited!
We are very excited to be welcoming a baby boy come December and we can’t wait to watch the girls become the best big sisters!
